Taxus chinensis requires a soil pH value between 5.5 and 7.0, with the best being acidic sandy soil that is loose, moist, well drained, and rich in organic matter. It can be mixed with pastoral soil, peat soil, and sandy soil, and added with a small amount of decomposed organic fertilizer.
Illumination
Taxus trees prefer shade and should be properly shaded from direct sunlight to prevent water evaporation, which can lead to dehydration of branches and leaves and withering. In summer, it should be placed indoors, and in the evening, it can be placed on the windowsill for ventilation. Although yew does not like sunlight, it cannot live without it. In a climate where the sunlight is not strong, it can be appropriately exposed to sunlight.
watering
Taxus should be watered more during its growth season and less during its dormancy period. Specifically, it should be watered every 5-7 days in spring and autumn, every 3-5 days in summer, and every 7-10 days in winter. At the same time, it should also be determined based on the actual growth situation. Generally, the leaves of a normal yew are straight and shiny. If you find that the leaf surface is wilting, you need to water it; If the leaf surface droops, it indicates a serious water shortage and needs to be watered; When tapping on the flowerpot, I found that the sound was very empty and I also need to water it.
fertilization
When breeding Chinese yew, it is necessary to fertilize it in a timely manner. Each plant should be treated with 0.2 kilograms of organic fertilizer and 0.02 kilograms of compound fertilizer. At the same time, some farm manure, cake fertilizer, etc. can be added.
temperature
Taxus chinensis prefers a cool and humid climate and can resist low temperatures of -30 ℃. The most suitable growth temperature is 20-25 ℃. There is no need for excessive warmth measures in winter, and attention should be paid to shading when the temperature is too high in summer.
Pest control
Under normal growth conditions, Taxus chinensis rarely experiences insect infestation. If there is yellowing or insect infestation, it can be irrigated or sprayed with methyl moped or potassium dihydrogen phosphate. During the rainy season, yew trees can experience root rot, stem rot, and rotting, and they need to be defended with Dixon pine. During hot and dry seasons, yew trees are prone to leaf blight and red blight, and Bordeaux solution should be sprayed for prevention and control.
